North Wind meets with community about proposed wellness centre in Pouce Coupe

North Wind Wellness Centre (NWWC) has been engaging with members of the community and other organizations about the ARCH project. To date, there has been overwhelming support of the project.

On March 16, 2022, representatives of NWWC, Streetohome Foundation and the Peace River Regional District presented information to Pouce Coupe Village Council on the proposed recovery wellness centre planned for Pouce Coupe, a development designed to meet the increased local demand for treatment and recovery housing services in the region.

On May 5, 2022, NWWC invited the community to learn more about a proposed wellness centre planned for Pouce Coupe at either a virtual information session on May 10 or an in-person open house event on May 16. The virtual session took place on May 10 from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. via Zoom meeting and the open house took place on May 16 from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Pouce Coupe Community Centre.

On July 1, 2023, for the Canada Day celebration, NWWC set up a tipi for information purposes. Twenty-five families plus several individuals visited to learn more about substance use issues and/or the proposed wellness facility.

In addition to community engagement, NWWC has also presented to Pouce Coupe Village Council and provided information to the public from time to time in the Village’s printed newsletter.
